Goal: To end the climate of impunity around defilement, thereby contributing to the prevention of sexual violence against children aged 10-16 years old in Kenya. To raise awareness on the rights of children and defilement victims around the legal obligations of police and community members to protect them.
Scope: Kwale and Kilifi
Impact
- Training and engagement of over 100 stakeholders drawn from the police officers, teachers, and Community Health Promoters (CHPs) on child protection and defilement
- Sensitization among over 500 children aged 10 – 16 years old on their rights and pathways for protection against and reporting of defilement cases
- Distribution of over 10,000 newsletters on GBV awareness and engaging the sensitised students during this exercise further boosted their knowledge and confidence in community outreach.
