Funded by the European Commission and implemented by International Centre for Reproductive Health–Kenya (ICRHK) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Mombasa City Council, the Uzazi Bora Programme ran across Mombasa and Kwale counties.
This four-year service delivery programme aimed to improve safe motherhood and reduce mother-to-child transmission (MTCT) of HIV, ultimately contributing to better health outcomes for women and children in Kenya’s Coast Province.
Impact
Through this programme, ICRHK and partners:
- Strengthenedantenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care services, improving the quality and continuity of maternal and newborn health care.
- EnhancedHIV prevention, testing, and treatment services for pregnant and postpartum women.
- Increased access to comprehensive maternal health services, therebyreducing the risk of MTCT of HIV.
- Improved overallmaternal and child health outcomes in Coast Province through integrated service delivery and strengthened health systems.
