Funded by KindernotHilfe, this 5-year child protection project focuses on children (10 to 17 years) who are affected by or at risk of Commercial Sexual Exploitation in Jomvu & Kisauni, Mombasa County. Partners include the Department of Health, the Directorate of Children Services, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Interior and Local Administration, and local community-based organizations.
The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the protection and improvement of the health of children at risk of and affected by CSEC and sexual abuse by identifying and supporting them, and supporting community structures.
Specifically, the project aims to:
- Identify 885 child victims of CSEC in Kisauni and Changamwe sub-counties in Mombasa, through 20 CHVs and 10 VCOs, and provide comprehensive support to reduce the risk of repeat sexual exploitation through a case management approach, individual counselling, mentorship, and strengthening their economic capacity, by December 2025.
- Build the capacity of children (10,000 in-school children and 1,000 out-of-school children, and children with disability), parents, teachers, and caregivers to identify, report, and respond to CSEC and sexual violence through peer educators and life skill sessions for the children, and sensitization for parents and caregivers.
- Strengthen the economic and parenting capacity of parents and caregivers of the 855 children who are identified as victims of CSEC to improve household income and build parenting skills to reduce the risk of repeat commercial sexual exploitation.
- Strengthen community structures at all levels (county, sub-county, and grassroots) to prevent, identify, and respond to CSEC and build the county and sub-county capacity to coordinate CSEC prevention activities and response.

- A total of 123 children have received educational/vocational support directly from the project to date.
