Funded by USAID and implemented by ICRHK in collaboration with Pathfinder, the APHIA Plus projects reduce the risk of HIV and STIs among female sex workers and men who have sex with men in Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, and Lamu Counties. The program delivers services through drop-in centers, peer outreach, moonlight HTC/STI/FP outreaches, and peer days. It also strengthens health systems and institutions to expand access to an integrated package of essential health services, including HIV prevention, care, and treatment; contraception; maternal, neonatal, and child health; and malaria and tuberculosis services.
Impact:
- Reached key populations with HIV and STI prevention services through drop-in service centers, outreach activities, and peer-led initiatives.
- Supported and trained 100 female sex worker peer educators and 30 MSM peer educators to provide reproductive health information and link peers to services.
- Delivered integrated services including HIV testing and counseling, STI and family planning services, and moonlight outreaches in hotspots.
- Strengthened local health systems to sustain access to essential HIV, SRH, and broader health services across coastal counties.
