The diaphragm acceptability study is funded by the Wellcome Trust and implemented in Mombasa by ICRHK in partnership with KEMRI and Ghent University. It assesses the acceptability, compliance, and safety of diaphragm use, an accepted family planning method as an additional barrier method to the male condom in preventing STIs and HIV among female sex workers and family planning clients in Kenya.

Impact
The study generated evidence on the potential role of diaphragms in HIV and STI prevention. Findings were published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and disseminated at international conferences, contributing to the global body of knowledge and informing future HIV/STI prevention research and program design.
