International Centre for Reproductive Health -Kenya (ICRHK), in partnership with Ghent University and NASCOP, is conducting an intervention study in Mombasa County to develop and test a digital peer support system that improves access to health information and enhances ART adherence among adolescents and youth at Coast Provincial General Hospital’s Comprehensive Care Clinic (CCC) and Family Care Clinic (FCC).

With funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the study leverages innovative social media and online platforms to provide 24/7 access to treatment information, enable anonymous peer support, address sensitive concerns, and create safe spaces for sharing experiences.

Impact

  • Strengthened ART adherence among adolescents and youth through digital peer support.
  • Provided safe, anonymous platforms for discussing sensitive health and social issues.
  • Enhanced access to accurate health information anytime, anywhere.
  • Promoted youth engagement in HIV care and treatment programs.
