Funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and implemented by International Centre for Reproductive Health–Kenya (ICRHK), the Okoa Mama na Mtoto Initiative (OMMI) is a three-year project implemented across Kenya.
The project aims to reduce maternal and newborn deaths by strengthening policies, funding, and service delivery for maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH). It brings together government, civil society, youth groups, and the media to advocate for increased investment, accountability, and coordination in MNCH.
Objectives
- Advocate for increased national and county investment in MNCH.
- Support the adoption and implementation of life-saving maternal and newborn health policies and innovations.
- Strengthen civil society and youth networks to enhance health system accountability.
- Foster media partnerships to build public awareness and political will.
- Center women, youth, and people with disabilities in MNCH dialogue and solutions.
